Bangladesh prepare for ‘India’ warm-ups

Bangladesh Women’s Hockey Team has been practicing hard for their upcoming warm-up matches against Indian Women’s Hockey Team who are slated to arrive in the capital today

Bangladesh eves has been sweating it out from July 8 for the U-21 Asian Hockey Federation (AHF) Cup, to be held in Singapore from September 9 to September 15.

Before taking part in the first tournament outside the country, Bangladeshi women will play a total of five preparatory matches with the women’s team of the National Hockey Academy of India.

Under the Sports Authority of India (SAI) this academy team will arrive in the capital on Monday. The six-match series is set to begin on August 20 and will end on August 28.

All the matches will be held at the Maulana Bhasani Hockey Stadium in Dhaka. Meanwhile, Indian senior coach Dr Ajay Kumar Bansal has joined the Bangladesh Women’s Hockey team as a part-time advisory coach.

It should be noted that Bangladesh’s opponents Hong Kong China, Nepal and Sri Lanka in the ‘B’ group of Womens Junior (U-21) AHF Cup. Group A will fight in Chinese Taipei, Singapore and Uzbekistan. The top two teams in the tournament will have the opportunity to play in the Junior Asia Cup.
