Rifat’s controversial widow on 5-day remand

A Barguna court on Wednesday placed Ayesha Siddiqua Minni, the controversial widow of slain Rifat Sharif, on a five-day remand.

Md Sirajul Islam Gazi of Barguna Senior Judicial Magistrate court passed the order after producing her before the court with a seven-day remand prayer.

On Tuesday, police arrested Minni for her alleged involvement in the brutal murder of her husband.

Rifat Sharif, 25, an internet service provider, was killed in front of his wife in broad daylight on June 26 by two youths and some others who were equipped with sharp weapons near Barguna Government College.

In a video footage, Minni was apparently shown trying to protect her husband during the attack. She was also named as the main eye-witness in the case.

Later at night, the victim’s father filed a murder case with Barguna Sadar police station, accusing 12 people, including prime suspects, Nayan and Rifat Farazi.  Nayan was killed in a ‘gunfight’ with law enforcers and Rifat Farazi was arrested later on.
