Jeweler slaughtered in Chattogram

CHATTOGRAM: Police recovered a slaughtered body of a jeweler from his shop in the city’s Bandartila area on Sunday.

The deceased was identified as Sanjoy Dhar, 46, son of late Sudharam Dhar of Ramu upazila in Cox’s Bazar district.

He was owner of ‘Monishri Jewelers’ in the Bandartila area under EPZ police station.   

Sources said though Sanjoy ran the jewelry business in the city, his family members including wife and offspring used to live at village home. 

The jeweler Sanjoy, who used to lend money, was gossiping with four to five persons at his shop on Friday night, police said quoting locals.

As bad odour was spreading from the shop since Sunday noon, locals informed police of the matter.           

Inspector (Investigation) Md Osman Gani of concerned of EPZ police station said being informed they rushed to the spot and recovered the body.

The body was sent to Chattogram Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy, he said suspecting that the murder was preplanned one.

Though the killers slaughtered him with sharp weapons, no valuables including ornaments and cash money was looted from the shop, the police officer said.

“Drivers are going on to arrest the culprits involved with the murder,” he said adding that a case was filed in this connection.
