Two major investment facilitating organizations, Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA) and Bangladesh Economic Zones Authority (BEZA) have kicked off One Stop Service (OSS) to entertain queries of the entrepreneurs.
As the government is widely focusing on attracting huge volume of investment — both foreign direct investment and local investment — the full operation of OSS would help the investors start business in Bangladesh.Top officials of the government agencies think that OSS would ease the difficulties of entrepreneurs and would ultimately help improve the ease of doing business index of Bangladesh.
BIDA, the premier private investment promotion and facilitation agency of Bangladesh, opened One Stop Service (OSS) in January, and now it is providing necessary services to the investors from a single window.
BIDA has opened 15 kinds of services for the entrepreneurs which will develop the ease of doing business in the country by reducing lingering procedure of the investors in starting new business. “All kinds of services to the entrepreneurs are available online under the OSS service window. Now investors will get service in shortest time in terms of doing business”, Kazi M Aminul Islam, Executive Chairman of BIDA told daily sun.
Sources at BIDA said the entrepreneurs will get all kinds of services related to their investment through this digital platform without paying a single visit to the government offices.
This automated platform will ensure transparency, check irregularities and enhance the country’s image to foreign investors, they said.
Of the services, BIDA is directly providing services like business project registration, easing visa regime, office permission, work permit and some other services while different government offices are using the BIDA’s OSS window to provide a couple of services.BIDA Executive Chairman Kazi M Aminul Islam said OSS will help attract investors and develop the index of ease of doing business in Bangladesh. All sorts of paperless investment services will be given in the shortest possible time through OSS.
In comparison, BEZA still remains a little more lag behind in operating one stop service than BIDA. BEZA was supposed to start a full-fledged OSS service in January last, but now it is able to operate OSS partially.
Sources at BEZA said they are now providing 11 kinds of services and hoping to start 27 other services by the end of this year.
