Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has given a directive for introducing ‘Student Bus Service’ with 10 buses for students of different schools of the port city.
The letter regarding the directive reached to the Chattogram Deputy Commissioner (DC) Md Elius Hossain on Monday.The letter undersigned by the Prime Minister’s Personal Secretary-1 Md Tofajjal Hossain Mian asked to introduce the bus service with the buses of Bangladesh Road Transport Corporation (BRTC) in coordination with the DC and district education officer.
The DC Elius Hossain said the prime minister has directed to introduce 10 buses of the BRTC for introducing the student bus service.
“After getting the buses a committee will be formed for setting the route and rules for operating them,” said the DC.
Mentionable, students who waged movement demanding safe road in August last year put up 10-point demand for ensuring safety of students on the roads .
Introduction of the student bus service was one of the demands of the agitating students from Chattogram.
The students also met the DC to press home their demand during the same movement last month.Their other demands included marking traffic sign and zebra crossing at all intersections, construction of speed breakers and footbridges among others.
