WELLINGTON: New Zealand's gross domestic product (GDP) grew 0.6 percent over the year in the December 2018 quarter, Statistics New Zealand (Stats NZ) figures showed on Thursday.

"Growth in this quarter was led by the service industries, contributing a 0.9 percent rise," said Stats NZ senior manager Gary Dunnet, adding that the goods-producing industries grew 0.2 percent, reports Xinhua.

States NZ recorded 10 of the 16 industries with increases, leaving a mixed growth among industries.

Transport, postal and warehousing (up 3.2 percent) led the service industries along with retail and accommodation (up 2.5 percent), while primary industries struggled across the board.
