The High Court slapped a ban on making any movie based on the story of wrongful confinement of innocent jute mill worker Jaha Alam in a number of cases over bank money embezzlement.

A division bench comprising Justice Md Nazrul Islam Talukder and Justice KM Hafizul Alam passed the order on Wednesday following a petition by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

The HC says the embargo will be effective until its previous rule questioning legality of Jaha Alam’s confinement is disposed off.

On Tuesday, the ACC filed a petition with the High Court seeking a ban on making any film on Jaha Alam.

Khurshid Alam Khan, counsel for ACC, appeared for the anti-graft watchdog. Deputy Attorney General Zahid Sarwar Kajal represented the state.
