‘Robber’ injured in Joypurhat gunfight

JOYPURHAT: A suspected robber sustained bullet injuries in a reported gunfight with police on Chandpara road in Panchbibi upazila early Monday, reports UNB.

The injured is Chhana Miah, 37, son of late Yasin Ali of Jhilail village and accused in several robbery cases.

Bazlar Rahman, officer-in-charge of Panchbibi Police Station, said that on information that a gang of robbers was taking preparation for committing robbery, a team of police conducted the drive.

Sensing the presence of police, the robbers opened fire on them, prompting them to fire back, triggering the gunfight which left Chhana injured with bullet.

Police recovered a revolver and several sharp weapons from the spot.
