Joint general secretary of Awami League (AL) Abdur Rahman said that the BNP-dominated Jatiya Oikya Front has taken a stand against the popular mandate by rejecting the 11th parliamentary election and demanding reelection.

“We completely rebuff Oikya Front’s demand for reelection,” he said.

Rahman was addressing a press conference at Awami League President Sheikh Hasina’s political office in the city’s Dhanmondi on Monday.

He said that Oikya Front’s demands are illogical and irrational.

“They should withdraw their statements or people will give them a befitting reply again,” he said.

He said people have defeated the war criminals and Jamaat-e-Islami through the December 30 polls.
