Newly-elected JPC executives pay tributes to Bangabandhu

Newly-elected office-bearers of Jatiya Press Club paid tributes to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman by placing wreath at his portrait at Dhanmondi in the capital on Wednesday.

They placed the wreath at the portrait of the architect of Bangladesh at Bangabandhu Memorial Museum at Dhanmondi-27 after the sweeping victory of the pro-independence panel in JPC polls held on the club premises on Tuesday.

The Daily Jugantor Acting Editor Saiful Alam and The Daily Ittefaq Senior Sub-Editor Farida Yasmin were elected as president and general secretary of the JPC executive committee.

BSS Deputy Chief News Editor Omar Faruk was elected the senior vice-president while Bangladesher Khabor Editor Azizul Islam Bhuiyan the vice-president of the new committee.

Ittefaq Special Correspondent Mainul Alam and Samakal City Editor Shahed Chowdhury have become its joint general secretaries. Bhorer Kagoj Editor Shyamal Dutta was elected the treasurer of the JPC executive committee.

Members of the newly-elected executive body are Qudus Afrad of the Purbakon, Rezwanul Hoque Raza of Masraanga Television, Shamsuddin Ahmed Charu of the Daily Ittefaq, Shahnaj Begum of The Daily Observer, Hasan Arefin, Kalyan Saha and Jahiduzzaman Faruk (independent), Syed Abdal Ahmed, Bakhtiayar Rana and Sanaul Haque.
