Tuesday’s sitting of Parliament was adjourned hurriedly due to power disruption at the Parliament Secretariat.

The day’s business began at 5:10pm with Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury in the chair, but power disruption caused its adjournment until 5:00pm today (Wednesday).

The House was run for about an hour with power support from generator.

Deputy Speaker Fazle Rabbi Miah, who was in the chair at that time, suspended the remaining businesses of the day at 6:15pm.

He told reporters that the day’s business was adjourned due to power disruption.

Meghnaghat Power Plant supplies electricity to the Parliament building. But glitches in the plant stopped the electricity supply.

“We’ve adjourned the day’s business, running the parliament sitting with the power support from generator for about an hour,” he said.
