Five-day theatre festival ends today

A five-day theatre festival will end today on the premises of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) in Segun Bagicha of the capital.

The festival has been organised by Industrial Development Leasing Company of Bangladesh Limited (IDLC).

With the slogan ‘Tarunyer Joyogane Asun Anonder Monche’, the festival titled ‘IDLC Natya Utsab 2018’ is feature 10 plays by the same number of troupes.

Cultural Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Noor inaugurated the festival as chief guest. The CEO and Managing Director of IDLC, Arif Khan, as well as prominent playwrights, theatre artistes and activists, were also present at the occasion.

A total of 10 prominent theatre troupes were participate in the festival. Troupes from different local cities like Theatre, Nagarik Natya Sampraday Dhaka Theatre, Padatik Natya Sangsad, Palakar, BotTola, Prachyanat, Prangonemor, Dhaka University’s theatre and performance studies department and Jahangirnagar University’s drama and dramatics department will stage plays at the festival.

IDLC will also honour four inspirational actor couples at the closing ceremony for their dedication and significant roles in molding the local culture and theatre industry of Bangladesh.
