Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader urged members of the Hindu community not to fall into the ‘trap set by BNP’.
“Don’t walk into BNP’s trap. Remain vigilant or you have to face dire consequence,” he said.Quader, also the road transport and bridges minister, was addressing a meeting marking the Janmashtami, the birth of Lord Krishna, at Dhakeshwari Temple in the city on Sunday. Bangladesh Puja Udjapan Parishad and Dhaka Mahanagar Sarbajonin Puja Committee jointly organised the event.
Obaidul Quader alleged that communal polarisation is going on ahead of the national polls in the name of forging national unity.
Recalling BNP-Jamaat atrocities during 2001-2002, Quader called upon the minority people to be on alert so that BNP and Jamaat cannot assume power again.
“If they come to power again, you have to face horrible situation. So you have to vote in favour of Awami League,” he said, adding that only Sheikh Hasina-led government worked for the minority people.
