BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia’s lawyer on Wednesday claimed that the Zia Orphanage Trust graft case investigation officer (IO) had prepared ‘fake’ documents to file the case against her.

The lawyer, AJ Mohammad Ali, came up with the claim while placing  defence arguments on the sixth day before Dhaka Special Judges Court-5 Judge Md Akhtaruzzaman.

He said that the IO, Harun-Ur- Rashid, had prepared fake documents to fabricate the case and the plaintiff had also delivered false testimony before the court to harass Khaleda Zia.

On the contrary, case should be filed against those who filed the graft case by using fraudulence, the lawyer argued.

“The whole case is imaginary and supernatural and Khaleda should not get punishment in a fake case rather, she should be acquitted from all the charges,” he claimed.
