Finance Minister AMA Muhith on Thursday said agro-oriented steps undertaken by the present government have made Bangladesh achieve remarkable successes in agriculture sector, including food autarky.
"The government has taken different steps for developing agriculture sector. Once, there was food crisis in the country, but now Bangladesh has achieved food sufficiency," he said, reports BSS.
The minister was speaking as the chief guest at the concluding session of the two-day "Agro Career Expo" at Krishibid Institution Bangladesh (KIB) in the city, said a press release.
Muhith said the exposition would play a vital role to create employment opportunities for the agriculturists of the country.
He expressed the hope that the fair will further strengthen the ties among universities, students and agro-based business organisations.
Among others, Awami League Organising Secretary Agriculturist AFM Bahauddin Nasim, Agriculturist AM Mizanur Rahman and Vice Chancellor of the Bangladesh Agriculture University (BAU) Dr Jasimuddin Khan attended the concluding session.
