The government has taken a decision to conduct separate admission tests for the medical and dental college this year.
The health ministry in a meeting on Wednesday said the admission test for the MBBS will be held on October 6 while the exam of BDS course will be conducted on November 30.
Students must have a minimum GPA-9 score with the SSC and HSC exams combined to apply for the exams.
Health Minister Mohammed Nasim chaired the meeting that took the decision. Senior officials of the health and family welfare ministry were also present.
Meanwhile, health and family welfare minister Mohamed Nasim in a meeting said that all medical coaching centers will remain closed from September 1 in an effort to stop question paper leakage as some of the medical coaching centers are allegedly involved in it.
Health Minister called upon the law enforcement agencies to stop such medical coaching centers permanently.
Prof Abul Kalam Azad, director general, directorate of health services who was present at the meeting, said that the decision was based on the Dhaka University’s proposal.
As of the last year’s admission test, there are 3,162 seats for the MBBS course in 29 public medical colleges and 5,325 seats for 65 private colleges.
Nine public dental colleges have 532 seats and 24 private dental colleges have another 1,280 seats.
