Former State Minister for Home Lutfozzaman Babar was taken to hospital on Monday as he fell ill in jail.
He was taken to Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmed Medical College from Kashimpur Central Jail at noon, said hospital sources, UNB reports.
However, doctors at the hospital referred him either to Dhaka Medical College Hospital or Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University for further treatment.
Dr Abdus Salam Sarker of the hospital said Babar was suffering from severe asthma, waist pain, hypertension and stomachache.
He was brought to the hospital at noon where a four-member medical team examined him.
Babar was sentenced to death in the 10-truck arms haul case.
