Jahanara Abedin, wife of Zainul Abedin, a prominent Bangladeshi artist known as Shilpacharya, died of old-age complications at a city hospital on Thursday. She was 94.

Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor (VC) Niaz Ahmed Khan expressed profound shock and sorrow at her demise.

In a message of condolence, the VC said Jahanara Abedin had a remarkable contribution to the success of Shilpacharya Zainul Abedin.

Niaz Ahmed prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family.
