A Kuwait expatriate was shot dead by miscreants in Jashore Sadar Upazila early Saturday.
The armed forces members also arrested two people and handed them over to the local police station in this connection.
The deceased, Meher Ali, son of Sabed Ali from Baziatola village, was an expatriate in Kuwait who returned home on 24 July.
A group of armed hoodlums shot at Meher Ali when he was closing the main gate of his house from inside around 12:30 pm and managed to flee the spot leaving him critically injured.
Hearing his cries for help, family members rescued Meher and took him to Jashore General Hospital, where the attending doctor declared him dead, reports our correspondent quoting the victim’s brother-in-law Ali Hossain.
A group of youth demanded Tk 5 lakh from Meher Ali during the recent student movement but he denied it, Hossain said.
