Krishi Market at Mohammadpur in the capital has caught massive fire engulfing shops in the morning.

A number of 17 fire fighting units are making frantic efforts to douse the flame.

The fire was reported at 3:34am and fighters rushed to the spot instantly, said Rashed bin Khaled, duty officer of Fire Service and Civil Defence (FSCD).

The market was marked as vulnerable for fire incident by the FSCD.

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has been deployed in the spot.

Army, Air Force, Navy and police forces have joined fire fighting units.

None is reported to have been killed or injured in the fire yet.
