Prominent Tagore singer Rezwana Choudhury Bannya has been honoured with the ‘Tamalika Panda Seth Lifetime Achievement Award’ in Kolkata. She was given the award for her contribution to Rabindra Sangeet.
The singer received the award at a ceremony held at Bhasha Bhavan Auditorium of the National Library in Kolkata on Sunday. Lakshman Chandra Seth, Tamalika’s husband and former parliament member in India handed over the award to Bannya.
Apart from Rezwana Choudhury Bannya, Indian writer Sanjib Chattopadhyay, dramatist Bibhas Chakraborty, actor Biplab Chatterjee, politician Ashim Chatterjee, poet Chitra Lahiri got the award.
Writer Shirshendu Mukhopadhyay, theatre personality Meghnad Bhattacharya and actor Badsha Maitra, among others, were present at the event.
EyeCare launched the award after the death of poet and litterateur Tamalika Panda in 2016.
