The Bangladesh Scouts Day is being observed today (Saturday) in the country with the theme "Scouting Korbo, Smart Bangladesh Gorbo'.
President M Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Friday issued separate messages on the eve of the day greeting all members of Scouts.
Scouting is a supplementary practical education system in addition to regular education, the head of the state added.
The main goal of scouting is to develop the youth of the country as self-reliant, well-mannered and ideal citizens by regular training and reflecting it in personal life, Hamid said.
The president hoped that the scout authority will be sincere to speed up the scouting activities in Bangladesh.
"I call upon Scout leaders to play an active role in turning the next generation into skilled human resources through Scouting," he said.
Hamid wished the 51st Annual General Meeting of Bangladesh Scouts a success.
The premier lauded the initiative to celebrate this day as 'Bangladesh Scout Day'.
Bangabandhu's dream was to build a non-communal, happy, prosperous and exploitation-free golden Bangladesh, she said, adding that scouts have always been helping to realize the dream of Father of the Nation.
"We will be able to build a hunger and poverty-free and developed-prosperous golden Bangladesh as dreamt by Father of the Nation through the collective efforts of all and by fulfilling our responsibilities with patriotism and devotion, Inshallah," she hoped.
Both the president and the premier wished the overall success of Bangladesh Scouts Day.
