Activists and leaders of Awami League (AL) celebrated the birthday of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in Rupganj of Narayanganj on Friday.
On behalf of Bashundhara Group Chairman Ahmed Akbar Sobhan, Rongdhonu Group arranged the programme in Pitalganj of the upazila.
Rongdhonu Group Chairman and Awami League leader Rafiqul Islam was the chief guest while Rupganj upazila unit former vice-president Abul Bashar Tuku chaired the session.
Daudpur Union Parishad Chairman Nurul Islam Jahangir was the main speaker at the meeting.
Addressing the event, Rongdhonu Group Chairman Rafiqul Islam said Bangabandhu became the greatest leader of Bangladesh through his befitting political career between 1948 and 1969.
Rafiqul Islam hinted that Bashundhara Group Chairman Ahmed Akbar Sobhan will contest election from Rupganj.
Rupganj upazila vice-chairman Shahriar Panna Sohel, Kanchan municipality mayor Rafiqul Islam Rafiq, young industrialist Tariqul Islam Moghol, former union parishad chairman Abu Hossain Bhuiyan Ranu, Manjarul Islam Manju, Rongdhonu Group director Mizanur Rahman Mizan, Upazila AL unit’s research secretary Kamal Hossain Kamol, local leader Taiyabur Rahman were also present on the occasion.
