CHATTOGRAM: The 13th founding anniversary of the Bangladesh Pratidin – the country’s highest circulated daily and one of the media outlets of Bashundhara Group, was observed in the port city on Wednesday.
The daily organised a gathering marking the founding anniversary at its Chattogram bureau office in the city’s Kazir Dewri area in the afternoon.
The daily Chattogram Bureau Chief Reaz Hyder Chowdhury presided over the programme while former CCC Mayor and Awami League (AL) Chattogram city unit General Secretary AJM Nasir Uddin, Jatiya Party Senior Presidium Member Mahmudul Islam Chowdhury, BNP Chattogram city unit Convenor Dr Shahadat Hossain, Member Secretary Abul Hashem Bakkar, Chattogram Press Club President Salauddin Md Reza, Senior Vice President Chowdhury Farid, Union of Journalists’ (CUJ) General Secretary M Shamsul Islam, BGMEA First Vice President Syed Nazrul Islam, Kaler Kantho Chattogram Bureau Chief Mustafa Nayeem, Daily Sun Bureau Chief Md Nur Uddin Alamgir, and Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ) Former Joint Secretary General Asif Siraj also attended the programme among others.
Besides, different professional, social, cultural and political organisations greeted the daily with flowers on the day.
Addressing the programme, CCC Mayor M Rezaul Karim said the leading broadsheet of the country could tackle the challenges of mass-media successfully through achieving popularity among the readers by this time.
He hoped that the daily will play due role for taking journalism to a new height in the coming days.
The mayor also called upon all media houses to work for betterment of the mass people.
