Man surrenders to police after’ killing father’ in Thakurgaon

A 29-year-old man surrendered to police reportedly after killing his father over a trivial matter at Shantinagar in Thakurgaon district early Monday.

Golam Azam went to the local police station and said he stabbed his father Fazle Haque, 69 to death at night.

Later, police recovered the body and sent it to local hospital morgue for autopsy.

Quoting local people, Kamal Hossain, officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station, said Azam completed his study from Software Engineering Department of Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (RUET).

Azam used to lock into altercation with his father over family issues.

Azam had an altercation with his father on Sunday night and at one stage he stabbed him indiscriminately with a sharp weapon, leaving him dead, he said.

“I have been suffering a lot due to my name, I could not get any job and everywhere they said me to change my name. But my father denied changing my name. I had to serve jail twice during student life. Besides, my wife along with three-month old baby left me and now I am depressed,” Azam told reporters.

Ramisha Banu, mother of Azam, filed a case with Sadar Police Station.
