The Aga Khan School, Dhaka (AKS,D) recently held its first in-person graduation ceremony since 2019 for the Class of 2022. This ceremony served as a special celebration for the 82 graduates, who underwent a unique learning experience consisting of a combination of virtual, hybrid and in-person learning due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite challenges posed by the pandemic, students succeeded with completing their International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme studies and the Cambridge Assessment International Education (CAIE) A Levels.

The ceremony was attended by members of the Aga Khan Education Service (AKES), Bangladesh Board of Directors, the parents of the graduates and AKS, D faculty members.

During the opening remarks, Principal TJ Coburn welcomed all with a song by the Byrds, “Turn! Turn! Turn!”, emphasising the essence of change. He congratulated the parents and graduating seniors, wishing them all an incredible journey ahead.

Chairman of AKES, Bangladesh Amyn Saleh congratulated the graduating Class of 2022 on behalf of the Board of Directors. He noted that despite the extraordinary and unprecedented times during the last two years of their education, the graduates had excelled in their studies, receiving admissions offers at prestigious universities including the University of California-Berkeley, the University of Oxford, the University of Melbourne, the University of Toronto and many more, while also securing USD 1.4 million in university scholarships.

In his speech, special guest and senior teacher of AKS,D Sheikh Kamal advised students to remember and appreciate their time spent at the School. He urged studentsto return to Bangladesh after completing their higher education overseas to serve their country, encouraging them to remember that they are stronger than they believe and more intelligent than they think.
