In the last six months, 333 workers were killed in workplace accidents in the country.

This figure is slightly higher than last year.

Safety and Rights Society (SRS), a private organisation, made this revelation at a press briefing on Thursday (June 30).

The organisation said the information was learnt after analysing newspaper reports from January 1 to June 30 of this year.

It was observed that some 333 workers died in accidents in workplaces in six months. Of the accidents, forty-nine, the highest number of workers, were killed in BM Container Depot explosion in Chattogram.

In 2021, some 306 workers were killed across the country in 220 workplace accidents.

The report was prepared after studying 26 daily newspapers (15 national and 11 local), said the organisation.
