Fatima Yasmin country’s first woman finance secretary

The government has appointed Fatima Yasmin as the senior secretary to the Finance Division. 

She has been serving as Economic Relations Division (ERD) secretary.

Fatima Yasmin is the first woman who has been appointed as the finance secretary in the history of Bangladesh.

Fatima Yasmin will replace senior secretary to Finance Division Abdur Rauf. A few days back, Abdur Rauf was appointed as governor of Bangladesh Bank.  

Fatima Yasmin joined the ERD as secretary on February 23, 2020.

She joined the Bangladesh Civil Service in 1991.

She worked for different ministries including the Finance Division and Economic Relations Division of the finance ministry and the ministries of agriculture, women and children affairs and defence.

Fatima Yasmin also served ERD for a substantial period with the World Bank, United Nations, Asian Development Bank, and Islamic Development Bank.
