A painting competition and exhibition was held in Kishoreganj’s Katiadi on the occasion of the 46th death anniversary of Shilpacharya Zainul Abedin.
Dipshikha Sanskriti Charcha Kendra organised the programmes on Sunday afternoon to commemorate the legendary painter and inspire the young generation introducing them with his art works.
Headmaster of Katiadi Government High School Badiul Alam Mahfuz, Upazila Awami League office secretary Anil Sutradhar, Awami League leader Abu Isa Munjil, poet Baby Mostafa, Dipshikha Sanskriti Charcha Kendra president Badrul Alam Nayeem and general secretary filmmaker Jisan Azad attended the programme.
Katiadi Ideal Kindergarten teacher Saiful Islam, Nasrin Akter, members of the organization Hasan Tareq Bappi, Shahriar Hossain Ripon, Nabjit Saha, Amir Hamza Nibir, Ayman bin Hamid Ami, and Ifran Hossain, among others, were also present.
The winners of the drawing competition are Junaid, Pial, Labib, Rafid, Mohan, Oli, Cynthia, Asif, Nusrat Faria. At the end of the competition, prizes were handed over to the winners.
Replica of Zainul Abedin’s most notable 40 works of art including ‘Durvikkher Rekhachitro’ in the context of 1943’s famine, ‘Nabanna’ in the context of mass uprising of 1969, and ‘Monpura’ painted following the death of millions of coastal people in the catastrophic cyclone in 1970, were exhibited.
Dipshikha Sanskriti Charcha Kendra president Badrul Alam Nayeem said, “Shilpacharya Zainul Abedin has always been a source of inspiration in the practice of art. But unfortunately he is becoming unfamiliar to us. Therefore, this event is to highlight the creation of Shilpacharya to the new generation.”
