Total lunar eclipse to occur Monday

A total lunar eclipse will occur on Monday (May 16, 2022), said a press release issued by the National Science and Technology Museum.

People of southwestern Europe, southwestern Asia, Africa, North America, South America, Pacific Ocean, Indian Ocean, Atlantic and Antarctica belts will be able to witness beauty of the eclipse.    

According to a report of Business Insider India, “The eclipse on May 16, 2022, will be visible from the earth’s regions including America, Europe, Africa, Antarctica, and east Pacific. During this eclipse, the moon will be positioned in the lighter penumbral shadow from the earth and hence what will result is a Blood Moon eclipse.”  

Mohammad Munir Chowdhury, Director General of National Science and Technology Museum, said  the eclipse will start at 9:29am and continue till 10:53am.

The people of Bangladesh are unlikely to see the eclipse for occurring during the daytime, he added.
