Bangladesh Premier League champions Bashundhara Kings will start their campaign in AFC Cup 2022 taking on Maldivian side Maziya Sports and Recreation Club in their first match of the four-team Group D (South Asian Zone) on May 18.

The Bangladesh champions will play their next match against the fourth participants who will qualify through play-off (South Asia) on May 21 and the last group match against Indian team Gokulam Kerala on May 24.

All matches will take place at the centralised venue, though the hosts are yet to decide.

Meanwhile, in the play-off (South Asia) six teams will compete in different phases. Among them, Machhindra FC of Nepal will play against Blue Star SC of Sri Lanka and Club Valencia of Maldives will play against Paro FC of Bhutan in the preliminary round one of a play-off, both on April 5.

Dhaka Abahani and Mohun Bagan directly entered into the preliminary round two. Dhaka Abahani will play against the winners of Valencia-Paro match while Mohun Bagan will lock their horns against the winners of Machhindra-Blue Star match, both on April 12. The winners of preliminary round two will lock their horns in the play-off final (South Asia) on April 19.

Kings directly entered into the group stage as last season’s Premier League and Federation Cup champions. Abahani got a chance as the BPL runners-up Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club failed to obtain an AFC license and became illegible from the competition.
