Commuters in Mirpur in Dhaka have been suffering immensely as several hundred garments workers took to the streets at Mirpur-13 area halting traffic movement demanding wage increment.

The workers of some local garment factory came down to the road around 10:00am, blocking one of the busiest roads in the capital, Hafizur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Kafrul Police Station, said.

Due to the blocking, long tailbacks were created in Mirpur and adjacent areas, the police official said.
