In a rare gesture, Dr KM Maqsudur Rahman Trust (DKMMRT) has donated Tk 1.60 crore to Centre for the Rehabilitation of the Paralysed (CRP) for construction of the 3rd floor building of the CRP in Barishal.

DKMMRT is a charitable trust that has undertaken innumerous social welfare activities for the disadvantaged community of Bangladesh since 1999.

The Trust for the Rehabilitation of the Paralysed (TRP) is a renowned social welfare organisation that provides medical services to the paralysed and disabled people through its Centre for the Rehabilitation of the Paralysed (CRP) medical centre at Savar.

To this effect, a signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the donation to construct the project was held at DKMMRT office in Gulshan, Dhaka on Tuesday (Sept 7).

After the signing ceremony, Dr. KM Maqsudur Rahman, Chairperson of DKMMRT formally handed over the first installment cheque to Dr. Mohammad Sohrab Hossain, the Executive Director of CRP, Savar.

With the donation money of Tk 1.6 crore, the authorities will construct the 3rd floor of 8760 square- feet of the CRP -Barishal Centre. The donation amount will be transferred in five installments.

The tender notice for the construction work will be published in the national dailies soon, said a press release of DKMMRT Trust.

The constructed floor will be dedicated in the name of Late Alhaj Md. Safder Ali and Late Saleha Khatun who are parents of Dr. KM Maqsudur Rahman.

After completion of the construction, the TRP will utilize the 3rd floor to provide rehabilitation facilities to the paralysed patients in Barishal and its surrounding areas.

The signing ceremony was attended by Rotarian Mrs. Nadira Mahmud, Adv. Altafur Rahman, Dr. Ruba Rahman, Adv. Sayeeda Rahmanand other prominent guests.
