Bangabandhu taught people methods to realize rights: Anisul

Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Anisul Huq today said Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman made the people aware about their rights and taught them methods to realize those.

“He never supported means to grab power through force. He declared independence and made the country free only when people gave him the mandate for it,” he said.

The minister said this while addressing a condolence meeting organised by Judicial Administration Training Institute (JATI) marking the 46th martyrdom anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, an official release said.

Presided over by JATI Director General Justice Nazmun Ara Sultana, the meeting was addressed, among others, by Law and Justice Division Secretary Md Golam Sarwer, Supreme Court Registrar General Md Ali Akbar, Inspector General Directorate of Registration Shahidul Alam Jhinuk, Law and Justice Division Joint Secretaries Bikash Kumar Saha and Umme Kulsum.

“Bangabandhu remained respectful towards the rule of law in his whole life. He languished in jail for 13 years only for speaking for the rights of the people. He brought independence to the country. But some black sheep of this country brutally killed him along with most of his family members on this soil of the country,” the law minister said.

“Most astonishing thing was seven judges at the High Court Division refused to hold hearing on the defence of Bangabandhu murder trial as they expressed embarrassment to do so,” he added.
