Bashundhara Group, a leading business conglomerate of the country, distributed relief among the distressed people in Natore on Sunday.
The Kaler Kantho, one of the reputed dailies of Bashundhara Group, distributed the relief through its social organisation Shuvasangha.
On the National Mourning Day, the relief distribution programme began by paying tributes to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
The relief distribution was organized in Bagatipara Upazila of Natore District. Around 400 helpless and distressed families received the relief items from the Bashundhara Group at Perabaria Model Govt Primary School premises.
Razia Begum, who received food aid, said, “I am a helpless person. I can’t work. Bashundhara Group’s support means a lot to me. I will pray for them.”
Another beneficiary --- Sanita Rani--- said, “My husband died. Nowadays I beg food from people. Bashundhara has given me food today. I prayed for them.”
Ohidul Islam Gokul, chairman of the Upazila Parishad, attended the relief distribution function. At the beginning of the relief distribution programme, he paid homage to Bangabandhu.
He also thanked Bashundhara Group for standing by the unprivileged during this difficult time of a pandemic.
Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Priyanka Devi Pal, Assistant Commissioner (Land) Nishat Anjum Ananya, Upazila Vice Chairman Abdul Hadi, Officer-in-Charge of the Police Station Sirajul Islam, Upazila Fisheries Officer Babul Hossain, Director of Kaler Kantha Shuvasangha Zakaria Zaman, Perabaria Model Govt Primary School acting Headmaster Md Raushan Kamal, Shuvasangha central committee member Sharif Mahdi Ashraf Jibon, Natore district branch president Md Mostafizur Rahman and General Secretary Sushmoy Das, Bagatipara Upazila President Rana Khan, General Secretary Masud Rana and Rocky, Riyadh, Joy, Siam, Rashedul, Rubel, Zahidul, Russell, Milon and Shanto were also present at the programme.
