Bangamata’s birth anniversary observed at BSFMSTU

The 91st birth anniversary of Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib, wife of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, was observed yesterday (08 August, 2021) at Bangamata Sheikh Fojilatunnesa Mujib Sceince & Technology University (BSFMSTU) campus with due respect and befitting manner.

Marking the day, the university Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Syed Samsuddin Ahmed placed floral wreath at the portrait of Bangamata on the premises of Administrative Building in the morning.

On the other hand, Treasurer of Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib Sceince & Technology University Mohammad Abdul Mannan paid homage to Bangamata with the university administrative body by placing a wreath at her grave at Banani in the capital.

BSFMSTU Registrar Khandaker Hamidur Rahman, Acting Director (Planning and Development) Kazi Sharif Uddin, Deputy Director (Finance & Accounts) Md. Abdul Jalil also present to Bangamata by placing wreaths at her grave at Banani.

Besides, a virtual discussion (webinar) was also organised at the evening by the university marking the day. Dr Syed Samsuddin Ahmed presided over the virtual discussion while Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni took part in the discussion as a chief guest.

Among other Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury, Deputy Minister of Education Ministry, Alhaj Mirza Azam, MP, Education Secretary, Md. Mahbub Hossain, Mejor Genarel SM Salah Uddin, BP, Military Secretary to the President, Former Secretary Nazrul Islam Khan (N I Khan), Prof Dr Md Abu Taher, Member, University Grants Comission, Prof Dr AHM Mostafizur Rahman, VC, Jatiya Kobi Kazi Nazrul Islam University joined the discussion as Special Guest.

In his speech, Prof Dr Syed Samsuddin Ahmed said an initiative has been taken to establish a centre titled 'Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Research Centre’ at the university to establish women's rights, education and empowerment in the society following the contribution and life philosophy of Bangamata.
