The participating clubs of Bangladesh Premier League will get Tk five lakh each from FIFA Covid-19 relief fund, Bangladesh Football Federation informed on Wednesday.

The participating clubs of Bangladesh Championship League Club will get Tk three lakh each while the participating clubs of Third Division, Divisional Football Associations and District Football Associations will get Tk one lakh each.

BFF has allocated Tk 1.22 crore for the development of women’s football.

BFF General Secretary Abu Nayeem Shohag told The Daily Sun that they received USD 5 lakh out of 1.5 million from FIFA last week.

“We got USD 5 lakh from FIFA in the first installment last week. We will distribute the amount as per the plan we have disclosed today. We have to submit this plan to FIFA then they will approve the other installments,” he added.

FIFA earlier announced their Covid-19 relief fund of USD 1.5 billion for its 211 members amid the pandemic in June last year.

Among South Asian nations, India and Nepal had already received their shares, but FIFA delayed the approval of Bangladesh’s share after expressing their doubts on BFF’s money management and finance committee.
