Bangladesh wicket-keeper batsman Mushfiqur Rahim will be available for the upcoming T20I series against Zimbabwe, said Bangladesh Cricket Board official on Tuesday.
Mushfiqur earlier stated that he is not available for the T20s against Zimbabwe but now he had changed his mind.“He changed his mind and now is staying back and will be available for the T20 series against Zimbabwe,” BCB’s chief selector Minhajul Abedin told The Daily Sun on Tuesday.
“If he had decided to skip the T20 series against Zimbabwe and come out of the bio-bubble environment it would have been difficult for him to get back into the bubble again and make him available for the T20s,” he said.
“Everyone has to be in quarantine for ten plays to play in the Australia series. We have planned to keep two players from the ODI side that is playing against Zimbabwe, with the T20I side, just in case. We are not taking any chances because there is always the chance of someone getting sick,” he said.
Bangladesh will host Australia for a five-match T20s next month and both teams are expected to arrive on July 29 and get into the bio-bubble.
The series against Australia will be played between August 2 and August 8 at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka.
Australia are currently playing against West Indies while Bangladesh will start their white-ball phase of the series after defeating the hosts in the one-off Test series in Harare.
