Library festival held at Kishoreganj’s Katiadi

With the slogan of “Break the resistance to monstrous darkness; Inexhaustible lamps”, a library festival has been held at Kishoreganj’s Katiadi on the occasion of the 14th founding anniversary of Deepshikha Granthagar and Sangrahashala.

The festival was held at the premises of No. 74 Fekamara Government Primary School in Jalalpur Union of the upazila on Sunday morning.

Recitation artiste Abdullah Al Fahad, teacher Tamanna Akter Rima, social worker Salman Ahmed, student leader Sakibul Hasan Sohag, Nabi Hossain, Ashrafizur Rahman Hridoy, and Ajmal Ahmed Shakib spoke in the programme chaired by the library president Badrul Alam Nayeem.

Helal Uddin, Mahfuz Ahmed, Zakir Hossain, Shaheen Ahmed, Jewel Ahmed, Golam Zakaria, Mrinmayee, Delwar Hossain Murphy, Monir Hossain, Shakil, Arafat, Kamrul, and Rafiul Alam Tamim, among others, were present there.

The best readers were awarded with prizes, commemorative trees were planted and educational materials were distributed among the students of poor economic background.

Badrul Alam Naeem said that the youth should be library oriented in order to get rid of the dreadful diseases like murder, rape, drugs, juvenile gang culture and online game addiction.

If the youths develop a reading habit, the tendency of various crimes including murder, rape, robbery and drugs will be reduced to a great extent, he said.

He also demanded that the government take various initiatives to increase the habit of reading books and practice literature and culture.
