Police to produce businessman Nasir Uddin before lower court today

Police are set to produce businessman Nasir Uddin Mahmud before lower court in Dhaka this morning in a case involving attempt to rape and murder of film actress Pori Moni.

Sources said police are going to plead to the court seeking remand of the accused Nasir Uddin.

Nasir Uddin Mahmud along with some women was arrested from Uttara area of the capital on Monday. The law enforcers also recovered drugs from their possession.

Earlier, the actress filed a case with Savar police station accusing six people on Monday morning.

Meanwhile, Pori Moni in a press conference said she has overcome the state of insecurity as Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is with her.

She is also happy to have countrymen beside her in the critical time of life.

Pori Moni filed a case alleging that former president of Uttara Club Limited Nasir Uddin and a businessperson named Omie wanted to rape and murder her.

On June 10, Pori Moni along with Omie and make-up artist Jimmy visited a club where Omie introduced them to some of his acquaintances, who were drinking alcohol.

"Last Wednesday, at midnight, Omie took me to a club at Birulia. I met Nasir U Mahmud that day and he introduced himself as the president of Dhaka Boat Club," she said.

According to her, one of them forced a glass to her face and started touching her inappropriately. When she resisted, they went on to hit both Jimmy and Pori Moni, the actress said.

"They physically assaulted me and tried to kill me. Omie was also involved in the whole setup."
