A woman has filed a case against two people including actress Shamsun Nahar Smriti, popularly known as Pori Moni, for assaulting her while working as a domestic help at the actress’ apartment in 2024.

Pinki Akter filed the case against Pori Moni and one of her associates Sourav, 28, with the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Nazmin Akter on 17 April.

After recording the statement of the plaintiff, the court asked the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) to probe and file its report by 8 May.

Confirming the matter to BSS, the plaintiff's counsel Advocate Nasidus Zaman Nishan said Pinki joined work at Pori Moni's apartment in March 2024 through an agency.

"On April 2, 2024, Pori Moni, after getting high on drugs, started abusing the maid [Pinki] for talking about giving milk to her child. She said it was time to give the baby food. As my client told the actress that as per chart, it was time for milk. After hearing that, Pori Moni started thrashing her, slapping, punching her, on her face and head indiscriminately. At one stage, Pinki became senseless.”

Another accused Sourav was present on the scene but instead of stopping Pori Moni, he incited her to beat Pinki more, Adv Nishan said.

Later, the victim called the police through dialing 999 and came out of the house. She later took treatment at the Kurmitola General Hospital.
