6 children drown in western Mongolia

Six adolescents drowned in a lake in the western Mongolian province of Bayan-Ulgii while fishing, the country’s National Emergency Management Agency reported on Saturday.

The incident happened in Khar Lake on Friday, the agency said, adding that the deceased were all 12th-grade students.

In recent days, the water in major rivers across the country has risen to dangerous levels due to continuous rain, the agency said, urging the public to prevent possible water-related accidents.
