Traffic sergeant electrocuted in Gaibandha

A traffic sergeant was electrocuted at a police barrack of old district jail area under Gaibandha Munucipality on Tuesday night.

The victim is identified as Foysal Mamun, hailing from Sadar upazila of Dinajpur.

“Mamun came in contact with the live electric wire of 33,000 volt while he went to 2nd floor of a police barrack where he stayed with other staff of traffic police, leaving him died on the spot,” said Noor Islam Sohag, traffic inspector (Admin).

He is survived by his wife and a daughter and a host of relatives and well-wishers to mourn his death.

Police super Muhammad Towhidul Islam and other senior police officials of the district police expressed their deep shock at the sudden death of traffic sergeant Foysal Mamun.

They also prayed to Almighty for eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed sympathy to the bereaved family members.
