Trader murdered in front of son: Accused Monir killed in ‘gunfight’

Another accused in the case filed for the murder of Pallabi trader Shahinuddin at his Kalabagan office, was killed in an alleged gunfight with police early Sunnday.

The deceased was identified as Monir Hossain, six number accused in the case.

He was directly involved in the killing of Shahinuddin that took place recently in front of his son, police said.

The man was injured in a "gunfight" with detectives around 2:30am inside Sagufta Housing area when the law enforcers went to arrest him there, Aklima Akter, a sub-inspector of Pallabi Police Station said.

On information, a team of police rushed to the spot and took him to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital where doctors declared him dead, the SI said.

Earlier on May 21, another accused in the case Manik, 32, was killed in similar gunfight with Rab members in Pallabi area, Rab claimed.

Earlier on May 21, another accused in the case named Manik also killed in a gunfight with members of Rapid Action Battalion in the capital’s Mirpur area.

On May 16, the accused called up Sahinuddin on his mobile phone and asked him to come to Mirpur Section-12 on the pretext of resolving a land dispute.

When the victim reached the area around 4pm that day, the assailants attacked him before hacking him to death with sharp weapons in front of his seven-year-old son.

A murder case was filed at Pallabi Police Station on May 17 against several people, including MA Awal, Sumon, Rocky, Monir and Manik.
