The country’s four leading shooters -- Abdullah Hel Baki, Shakil Ahmed, Risalatul Islam and Sayeda Atkia Hasan Disha -- are in the race for Olympics wild-card entries.
The Olympic Games Tripartite Commission will provide the wild-card for Bangladeshi shooters to the National Olympics Committee, but it is yet to be decided whether the card will come in the name of the country or the name of the shooter. However, Bangladesh Olympics Association asked for information on four shooters, their arms, and ammunition to the shooting federation.
It is assumed the card will be provided in the name of the country instead of a particular shooter and NOC will finalise one among these four shooters.
Bangladesh Shooting Sport Federation executive committee member Mushtaq Waise informed that they will send a report on shooters’ performances in the last four years and other information to NOC soon.
“Tripartite Commission will provide the wild-card in the name of the country. Perhaps, NOC will finalise one among these four shooters,” Mushtaq told The Daily Sun on Saturday.
BSSF recently re-appointed South Korean Pistol Coach Kim II Young as the national coach. He will arrive here on May 14 and start the camp on May 16 as a part of the Olympics preparation.
