Govt to honour 5 women on International Women's Day

The government will honour the five women at the national level on the occasion of International Women's Day.

The awardees are Hasina Begum Neela from Barishal, Miftahul Jannat from Bogura, Mosammat Helancha Begum from Patuakhali, Robijan from Tangail and Anjana from Narail.

Each of the awardees will receive a Tk1 lakh cheque, crest and certificate. 

State Minister for Women and Children Affairs Fazilatun Nessa Indira informed the matter at a press conference on Sunday at the Secretariat.

The minister will present the medals to them on behalf of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at the Bangladesh Shishu Academy auditorium on March 8.

"Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will join the celebration of International Women's Day as the chief guest at the Shishu Academy auditorium through video conference from Ganabhaban at 10.30 am," said Minister Indira.

This time the theme of the day is "Women Leadership amid Coronavirus, A New World of Equality Will Be Built."
