Charge hearing in Khaleda`s Gatco graft case defers to Jan 26

The charge hearing in BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s Gatco corruption case has been deferred as the defendant did not appear before the court showing risk of contacting coronavirus.

Judge Mohammad Nazrul Islam of Special Judge Court-3 on Tuesday fixed January 26 for the hearing.

On the day, Khaleda Zia's lawyer Hannan Bhuiyan appealed to defer the date.

On September 2, 2007, the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) filed the case against 13 people—including Khaleda and her youngest son, Arafat Rahman—with the Tejgaon police station; for their alleged corruption while penning a contract with Global Agro Trade (Pvt) Co Ltd (Gatco) for container management at inland container depots in Dhaka and Chattogram.
