The Supreme Court has cancelled vacation of the civil courts in the lower judiciary scheduled for December 2-15.
A notice issued by Registrar General of the Supreme Court Md Ali Akbar said Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain took the decision in a full-court meeting.However, another vacation from December 17 to December 31 will remain intact and all civil courts will be closed accordingly.
Chaired by Chief Justice, the full-court meeting was attended by the judges of the Appellate Division and High Court Division of the Supreme Court.
Legal experts think the apex court might have cancelled the leave considering sufferings of the litigants. The court’s function was already hampered due to Covid-19 pandemic.
