Covid-19 claims life of another doctor

An assistant professor of Surgery department in Kushtia Medical College and Hospital died from coronavirus infections at a hospital in the capital on Friday morning.

The deceased was identified as Dr SM Nur Uddin Abu Al Baki Rumi, 48, hailing from Dariapur village in Mujibnagar upazila of Meherpur.

Dr Rumi breathed his last at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University Hospital (BMMSU) while undergoing treatment at around 3:00 am.

He is the first doctor who died from the virus infection in Kushtia district.

SM Nur Uddin was tested positive for the virus on July 3.

Tapash Kumar Sarkar, resident medical officer (RMO) of Kushtia General Hospital, confirmed this information to media.

With him, a total of 65 doctors have died of Covid-19 infection, while ten doctors have died showing Covid-19 like symptoms so far.
