Incepta Pharmaceuticals Limited has come forward with a medicine that has shown promise in treating the deadly disease coronavirus or COVID-19.
Keeping in mind of the country’s future course of action against COVID-19, the Incepta Pharma Ltd has delivered 30 lakh pieces of ‘Reconil’ tablets to Central Medical Store Depot (CMSD), Health & Family Welfare, said pharmacist Mohamad Mizanur Rahman of Incepta Pharmaceuticals.Hydroxycholoroquine, initially developed as a treatment for malaria, is largely being used for various auto-immune diseases like rheumatoid arthritis and lupus erythematosus now being used for the treatment of COVID-19.
The medicine ‘hydroxychloroquine’ is now available in the market of the country. Only two pharmaceutical companies are producing this medicine. But Incepta’s product is widely being used and popular one.
Incepta Pharmaceutical has been producing this medicine for over 15 years with the brand name “Reconil”.
Talking to daily sun, Mizanur Rahman said currently they have enough stock of this medicine.
Reconil has been approved by the United Kingdom Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (UK MHRA), the drug regulatory authority of UK.
In various studies conducted in the USA, France, China and other places, Hydroxychloroquine helped to speed the recovery in a number of patients who were mildly ill from the COVID19.Directorate General of Drug Administration (DGDA), Bangladesh has instructed the local pharmaceutical companies to produce this drug and keep it in their stock.
Incepta has successfully been exporting ‘Reconil’ to the United Kingdom (UK) for many years while they also have donated 3 lakh pieces of tablets to the DGDA.
Incepta will launch Favipiravir, Ritonavir or Lopinavir combination and also trying to launch Remidesivir and other drugs that are being considered as a potential treatment for COVID-19 by many global experts, said the pharmacist.
Not everyone globally producing this medicine. But now this medicine can be used for the treatment of corona virus. Accordingly, Incepta has scaled up their production to meet any future demand.
Although many countries are willing to import this medicine from Incepta, they are not currently exporting this medicine.
Incepta is giving first priority of the local population. Already this medicine has been made available in the country through various chemist shops.
